Hello, okay this is a pilot post to see how the template runs on this blog. I will probably add some pictures and quotes.

Let's not waste our time, I just got home from a seminar and talkshow about design and hijab. It was a very unexpected day as I was expecting more talks about design rather than the hijab itself. As a fresh graduate, I was hoping that I will go home with a new hope for getting a new job. But, yeah, I went home with this thought in my head whether I should be Syar'i now or should I wait until I get married. I'll tell you why I had this thought in my head.

Well, as many of us know, Indonesia is a big country with the majority of religion is Muslim. Recently, the muslim fashion industry from Indonesia is showing a very significant growth. There are some local fashion designers promoting their Muslimah designs to global audience. It is a huge breakthrough for Muslim fashion industry, it's like a new hope for the boring an usual style of muslimah in Indonesia. Those designers create new trends and new looks for muslimah Indonesia in how to mix and match their outfit and how to be creative with their hijab. It's no longer boring and it becomes fun, fashionable and exciting. Even from what I heard, there are many girls who wasn't wearing hijab now wears hijab because of the 'trend'. Unfortunately of course, many disagrees with this kind of 'trend'. The very basic movement of the trend came from the designers and us people play the role on the growth of the trend.

Now, here comes trouble. When people are given freedoms in creating their personal style, people tends to forget about "What hijab really is, and how hijab should be". So from my seminar last Sunday, I have been reminded about "What is hijab?". Let's first take a look at this illustrations first,

Now, the one on the left seemed to be the current trend that is happening in Indonesia right now. Which I believe the one on the right is what hijab should be for muslimah. So hijab consist of two piece of clothing which is khimar and jilbab. Khimar is your head covers, it should cover the chest generously, shall not transparent or see-through and simple. While hijab is a gamis or long dress that should be wide and long enough so it covers your silhouette. Last, wear a pair of socks to cover your feet. It is said to be what every muslimah should wear on daily basis whenever they go out. It is contradicting with the current style that fashion designers created. I my self not yet ready for syar'i hijab, but I am willing to change little by little. First by starting to wear skirt more often and wear tops that is not tight with a chest covering pashmina.

Seeing the latest Jakarta Fashion Week 2014 there are some muslimah designers that applied syar'i hijab and clothing in their fashion line. Maybe this could be another break-through in the fashion world. I just hope that everyone will meet their expectations and believe. This is fashion, and it's complicated haha.

Well, this is the end of my pilot post. Tough topic, and unknown endings hahah. All I know is that,

Whatever you are wearing, it doesn't affect your creativity.

Love,
Adinda
